Job Title: Generator Mechanic

Reports to : Lead Generator Mechanic
Who reports in to this position: Generator Team consisting of International Recruited Worker (IRW) Mechanics and Local Civilian Hire (LCH) Mechanics
Location: KBR (UK), Kabul International Airport
Working Conditions: Based in an operational theatre of war, with arduous conditions.
2. Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Essential:
⢠A minimum of 5 years on site experience preferably within the military environment.
⢠Proven ability of applying good environmental practices in tasks performed including the investigation of accidents and incidents, carrying out risk assessments and risk control and complying with UK health and safety legislations.
⢠He/she must be proficient in fault finding and repairs to a wide variety of equipment.
⢠Experienced in producing servicing documentation and producing replacement part information based on equipment inspection.
Preferred:
⢠Knowledge of airfield services would be an advantage.
⢠Be familiar with NATO, ICAO and ISO terminology.
⢠Experience of working on operations in austere remote sites or in developing nations.
⢠Hold a valid First Aid certificate.
⢠Ideally hold additional Authorised Person certificates in any discipline.
⢠Experience / competence in improvising solutions when necessary.
3. Core Responsibilities and Duties
Core Responsibilities:
⢠Providing mechanical and generator advice to the Generator Mechanic Lead.
⢠Management of Generation and Mechanical Works.
⢠Undertaking of inspection of maintenance on generators.
⢠Repairs of generators.
⢠Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Health and Safety at Works Act and implementing Safe Systems of Work.
Duties:
The principal duties of the Generator Mechanic will be the undertaking of inspection and maintenance of generators.
⢠Compiling orders of materials via the Supply Services Manager.
⢠Implementing good practice drawn from an understanding and working knowledge of codes of practice, British Standard, European / North American codes and good working practice.
⢠Ensure all generator works are managed financially within budget.
⢠Inspection of fuel bunding installations and advising about repair/refurbishment as necessary.
⢠Provision of call out services and reactive maintenance.
⢠Any other duties as directed.
